02 / Cabinet refinishing

A new finish for the cabinets you have.

We refinish the cabinets you already have, in place. If the boxes are damaged or the layout has to change, we will tell you before we quote.

Typically 3–5 days

A planning range for the refinishing work. Cabinet condition and scope affect the final schedule.

The boxes stay

The cabinet boxes stay in place while the surfaces are prepared and refinished.

A sprayed finish

Preparation, priming and spray application create a smooth, consistent finish.

From the first door removed to the last one rehung.

  1. Remove

    Remove and label doors, drawer fronts and hardware for organized reassembly.

  2. Degrease

    Clean the surfaces, remove residue and prepare the existing finish.

  3. Prime

    Apply the specified primer for the surface and refinishing system.

  4. Spray

    Apply the selected finish with attention to coverage and drying between coats.

  5. Rehang

    Reinstall the doors and hardware, check the details and review the finished work.

We discuss kitchen access, drying and cure requirements before work begins, so you know what to expect while the finish is applied and after the doors are rehung.

We discuss the product, color and sheen for each surface during the consultation and include the selected materials in the written scope. Let us know if you have a preferred brand or a specific finish in mind.
Will there be a strong paint smell?
Odor and ventilation needs depend on the products and work being performed. We discuss those details before starting. Tell us about sensitivities, pets or other concerns so we can plan the work and access with you.
Can I stay in my home while you paint?
Often, work can be organized around occupied areas, but it depends on the scope, access and product requirements. We discuss which rooms will be affected and when they can be used again. Cabinet refinishing also requires a plan for kitchen access.
